A Video about Mind Mapping

In recent days, I read some articles about Mind Mapping. Those articles gave me a general idea about what is Mind Mapping and the fields in which it can be used. However, frankly speaking, I am still not so clear how to use this tool in teaching, learning, business and some other areas in my life time. This morning, I sat in front of my laptop, and considered how to make good use of our rich online resources. I visited YouTube and got a satisfied answer there.

This video illustrates many of the core benefits of Mind Mapping. It helps me understand Mind Mapping in depth and the impact it can have on our personal and professional life. Please take a look and share with me what you learn from it.

Yan, this video gives a good overview of the whole concept. I guess educators really use this concept all the time through the use of graphic organizers. Our school has a set of graphic organizers we've adopted which provides students with place holders for holding and organizing all of the content we are constantly feeding our students. Thus, allowing a way for students to keep track of all the details.
Thanks for the information! Jon

Yan

I have found mind mapping incredibly resourceful with putting all my contacts and social networks on paper. It shows clear associations and groups of who I know, and where I know them from.

Other than that, I am open to learn more ways to use mind maps in an educational setting, especially with students and their thoughts.

Thanks for the info! Cool Blog!

Yan,
I apologize for only commenting on your blog now. It was not updated when I looked on it last week and from Thurs-Monday I did not have internet access. This video does an excellent job of explaining what mind mapping is and how it can be helpful in designing instruction. I am a big fan of concept maps. It promotes critical thinking and the need for in-depth knowledge of the content. When I taught I used it as a brainstorming and graphic organizer for my students. It can also be used as an assessment to see how well a student is understanding the content being learned. The more links, nodes, and connection a student can make, the more in-depth understanding he or she has about the area of study.
Thank you and great job!
Ashley
